Sharon Louise (Dunn) Mawhinney Tuesday, July 14, 1964 - Tuesday, February 14, 2017

Cumberland, MD – On Tuesday, February 14, 2017, the angels carried our sweet heart, Sharon Louise (Dunn) Mawhinney, 52, of Cumberland, MD from this world into the waiting arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at Ruby Memorial Hospital Hospice Unit, Morgantown, WV.
 
Born July 14, 1964 in Cumberland, MD, Sharon was the fourth child born to John Dunn and Mary (Creegan) Dunn, Cumberland, MD.
 
Sharon was a graduate of Fort Hill High School, Class of 1982, and was last employed at Biederlack Corporation of America.  She was a member of Memorial Heights Baptist Church.  Sharon started every day by listening to the Word of God and in prayer for others.  Her interests were NASCAR (Kyle Busch), reading, music, and in earlier years, roller-skating where she met the love of her life. 
 
Besides her parents, Sharon is survived by her faithful and devoted husband of 29 years, David Mawhinney, and their “fur baby” Mia.  She also leaves behind her five brothers and three sisters who will dearly miss her but are relieved that her battles are over: John Dunn and wife, Brenda, Youngsville, PA; Michael Dunn and wife, Virginia Arrona, Patterson, CA; Terrance Dunn and wife, Suzy, Fort Ashby, WV; Christopher Dunn and wife, Gina, Stuart, FL; Paul Dunn and wife, Tammy, Carpendale, WV; Linda Campbell and husband, Virgil, Chesapeake, VA; Patricia College and husband, Douglas, Cumberland, MD; Rita Cage and her special other, Larry House, Oldtown, MD.  Sharon is also survived by her sisters-in-law: Donna Smith and husband, Mike, Wiley Ford, WV; and Karen Miltenberger and husband, Mark, Cumberland, MD; her brothers-in-law: Richard Mawhinney and wife, Becky, Cumberland, MD; and Jeff Mawhinney and wife, Daisy, Gerrardstown, WV; a special friend: Lisa Hines; and many many special nieces and nephews who she loved all the same and looked at as her own. 
 
A memorial service will be conducted at Memorial Heights Baptist Church, 1419 East Oldtown Road, Cumberland, MD,  on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Denny Michael officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
 
The family would like to express deep gratitude to the staff of Independent Dialysis Foundation and Ruby Memorial Hospital for the genuine care and compassion shown to our sweetheart, Sharon.
 
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, Post Office Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023; or, the Memorial Heights Baptist Church Building Fund, 1419 East Oldtown Road, Cumberland, MD 21502.

Dave, I am so sorry, Sharon was an amazing woman who I will truly miss. I know that she is not in pain any longer and that she will always be watching over you. God bless you and her entire family.

Dave, although I had not talked to Sharon recently, in the years past when she was able to come out to hear the bands, we had great conversations.  She, as you already know, was a very specail lady and I am so glad I was able to know her.  You, your family, and her family are in my thoughts and prayers.
