Ruth Ann Gillum Wednesday, July 15, 1942 - Friday, June 2, 2017

LaVale, MD- Ruth Ann Gillum, 74, of LaVale, MD, passed away suddenly on Friday, June 2, 2017 at her home with her husband by her side.

Born July 15, 1942, in Baltimore, MD, Mrs. Gillum was the daughter of the late William Harold Howsare and Gertrude Alice (Kimble) Howsare.

The last surviving member of her immediate family, Ruth Ann was a homemaker and was a member of Grace Memorial Community Church.  She was a member of the Allegany County Antique Car Club, Bedford Road Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and the Kelly Trucker Breakfast Group.  Anyone who knew her knew that she loved her family, never met a stranger and loved to laugh.  She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know her.

Ruth Ann is survived by her husband of 58 years, Charles Francis Gillum; her children:  Cynthia Gillum, Centerville, PA; Charles Kevin Gillum and wife Dolores, Corpus Christi, TX, Carolyn Butler and husband Richard, Piedmont, WV; and William Keith Gillum and wife Lydia Ellen, Glencoe, PA; as well as fifteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, ( on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Mickey Stephens officiating. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service.

I'm very sorry to hear of Ruth Ann's passing. I haven't attended many family reunions but when I have gone I've always enjoyed speaking with Ruth Ann. She was such a pleasant and fun person. I'm sure heaven is rejoicing because she has gone home. I'm sorry for your loss and will be praying for all of you.
