Ray Taylor Tuesday, January 30, 1934 - Monday, January 30, 2017

Cumberland, MD – Ray Taylor, 83, of Cumberland, MD, passed away Monday, January 30, 2017, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born January 30, 1934, in Cumberland, MD, Mr. Taylor was the son of the late Jacob Taylor and Edith (Hollingsworth) Taylor.  He was also preceded in death by his sisters: Edith Dean, Virginia Beckwith, Isabelle Green, Dorothy Purchase, and Bertha Hurtt; his brothers: Earl, Henry, Howard, Jacob, and Phillip Taylor; and a son: Todd Downz.
A United States Army Veteran, Ray retired from Howell Trucking as a Sanitation Collector.  He attended the Metropolitan A.M.E. Church and was a member of the Fort Myers Post #153 American Legion and the Teamsters Local Union.
Ray is survived by his very significant other: Doris L. Howard, Cumberland, MD; his daughter: Eileen Downz, Frederick, MD; and a son: Joseph Taylor and wife, Amber, Cumberland, MD.  He also leaves behind his stepson: Trevene C. Howard and wife, Jaime, Berlin, MD; his sister: Mary Jane Twyman, Cumberland, MD; his grandchildren: Brandon Downz, Jayden Taylor, Jaleel Taylor, Cadence Howard, Lilyana Howard, and Lataya Knight; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Thursday, February 2, 2017, from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.
A committal service will be conducted at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap on Friday, February 3, 2017, at 12:00 Noon with Chaplain Bernie Lechman officiating.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post #13 Veterans Honor Guard.
