Nancy R. Chirdon Wednesday, March 27, 1946 - Sunday, July 30, 2017

LaVale, MD – Nancy R. Chirdon, 71, of LaVale, MD, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017, at her home.
 
Born March 27, 1946, in Cumberland, MD, Nancy was the daughter of the late Ray C. Lakin and Eleanora K. (Chambers) Lakin.  She was also preceded in death by one granddaughter: Cathryn D. Edmiston; and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
 
 Ms. Chirdon was a graduate of Ursuline Academy and received her Associates Degree from Allegany College of Maryland.  She was previously employed by Liberty Trust Bank of LaVale for 23 years, and was currently employed by Xerox of Frostburg, MD, for 16 years.
 
Ms. Chirdon was a life member of Our Lady of the Mountains Parish - SS. Peter and Paul Shrine, where she sang in the choir for 48 years.  She was also a former member of the Knights of Columbus.  Ms. Chirdon was an avid gardener, loved to read books, and enjoyed sewing and doing crafts.
 
Ms. Chirdon is survived by her two daughters: Renee A. Edmiston and husband, Charles A., Bowling Green, MD; and Noelle M. Shatzer and husband, Thomas E., Crestview, FL.  She is also survived by her two grandsons: Charles J. Edmiston “CJ”; and Brent M. Edmiston.
 
A memorial service will be conducted at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Sunday, August 6, 2017, at 3:00 P.M.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1050 East Industrial Boulevard, Suite #3, Cumberland, MD 21502, in Ms. Chirdon’s name.

So sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. Good memories of her singing talent in Fr Jim's folk choir at St Pete's. She's singing with the angels now! God bless your families in your time of need

Nancy, we were all shocked to learn that you had passed away. You were with us at our class luncheon in Frostburg on July 15 and we had a great time. Our next luncheon will be on August 12, at SHOOTERS and you will me remebered by those attending, we'll save a chair for you. You will be missed by all our classmates but we know you're in a much better place and looking over us. Our condolences and prayers to Renee and Noelle and their families.
